Sudden weird lightheadedness during headache

I’ve had two weird headaches in a 12-day period. One was at the time of my “normal” hormonal headache. (I actually get two hormonal headaches per cycle, yay lucky me. The one I’m talking about was my “start of period” headache. I had a normal “end of period headache already.)

The other one is today (ongoing).

I have had a mild headache every day in between these two.*

Anyways, the weird thing is I’ve had these bad headaches, and then suddenly a VERY STRONG lightheaded/swooshing feeling.

Today I then felt very weird and nauseous. (Still feel that, a couple of hours later. Have head pressure (sides, vice-like) but not pain.)

*For completeness, I’ve booked an eye test as I’m myopic and it’s been probably two years or more.

Also for completeness, I had the AZ vaccine 26 days ago so the first headache was on Day 14. My headache went away though so I wasn't that worried.

So anyways, WTH, because the lightheadedness was REALLY weird and REALLY worrying.

Looking for answers too as my daughter has really similar symptoms ( not COVID as LFTs all clear )

NightmareLoon · 14/04/2021 21:46

My LFTs all clear too, not that it's a guarantee.
My husband encouraged me to contact the GP, so I've filled out an eConsult...

I have recently gone on the pill to reduce my hormonal headaches (seems to have worked too!). I'd started getting them twice a month for 1-5 days each time. They would regularly involve nausea and dizziness.

Worth going to dr cos whatever the cause, it's horrible!

NightmareLoon · 15/04/2021 07:20

Sadly I can't take the combined pill because of family history of blood clots. The mini pill kills my libido and does nothing else. Hormones are dumb.

Could be migraine. Contacting the GP is the right thing to do. My migraines have got worse in my forties and I now take a preventative.

NightmareLoon · 15/04/2021 07:58

I did think maybe migraine. It was unlike the other possible-migraine I had (classic symptoms: severe headache, sound sensitive, ended with me being sick) but I guess migraines don't always follow a pattern. (Also possible-migraine was probably 10 years ago now.)

I don't think I've ever been sick or sensitive to light or sound with migraine. Everyone is different from though. The GP would be able to help.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 15/04/2021 10:09

Should be able to help!

NightmareLoon · 15/04/2021 12:49

Well I've been sent to A&E by the GP for a blood test for the clotting issue. "I don't think it's that but we need to be careful."

Better safe than sorry. Hope it's not that. Flowers

NightmareLoon · 15/04/2021 17:20

It wasn't that. I am anemic however. :/
