Ongoing Ear problem

I have had an ongoing ear problem for a yr now to and fro from the Dr different nasal sprays etc that haven’t helped , she done a referral to ent 6 months ago I still haven’t heard anything , I fully understand that there’s a back log due to covid but I was told I could have a 50 week wait , I am worried as the problem isn’t getting better I also experience pain behind my ear , the only thing I can do is go private at a high price just for a consultation then extra for treatment. I read an article in the newspaper last week that states this is what a lot of people are having to do now I find it all so worrying that people’s health are suffering
At the same time the nhs is under a lot of strain with the pandemic .
Dr’s are still not allowing patients into the surgery so phone consultations are a guessing game
A relative of mine is elderly suffering awful dizzy spells the Dr spoke to him over the phone prescribed vertigo meds which aren’t working atall he’s now on a waiting list for a hospital appt even though he has a lot of other medical problems
I think the Dr should get him into the surgery for a check up blood pressure etc but this isn’t happening he has had both covid jabs .
Sorry to rant but I find it all so concerning with the whole situation people are going without vital medication & treatment .

Have you called the appointments line to see if they can offer you one? If you know the name of the Consultant that you have been referred to, it might be worth phoning their secretary as well and asking how long the list is and stressing that you are willing to go at short notice. Same thing should work for your relative. I managed, after a few phone calls, to get my DF seen within 6 weeks after he was told the waiting list would be 9 months.
