Brain playing tricks on me

I have been doing lateral flow tests for work for the last three months and on the last one I did there was a line next to the c and I was convinced I had Covid! When I calmed down and checked the results I realised that a line next to the c is fine on its own. So why didn't I know this after testing myself for three months?! Also last week I couldn't work out how to use the tin opener for a moment. I'm now scared I have early onset dementia as dementia runs in my family or maybe my brain is playing tricks ! Does anyone else have this??

How old are you? I can only comment on my own experience, but I have had a few similar blank moments thanks to menopause.

BlatheringOn · 10/04/2021 10:59

I should add, no one with dementia in my family

lollipoprainbow · 10/04/2021 11:05

I'm 47 I'm thinking it could be the menopause actually.

It's possible. I thought my brain was shutting down! I'm much more relaxed about it now. Take care Smile

You are describing my brain. Are you stressing about things?

GoWalkabout · 10/04/2021 11:31

Could well be meno, the brain fog was awful for me. I once opened the fridge to get a satsuma, peeled it and started eating it before I realised it was a lemon. Or stress?

lollipoprainbow · 10/04/2021 11:40

@GoWalkabout that's hilarious !! I'm quite stressed generally to be honest.

Oh, don't get me started on the time I walked out of tesco without paying for my shopping then, or the nice policeman who turned up to arrest me for forgetting to pay for petrol (I was rushing and spaced out on the brownies run). The lemon was hilarious though. Thank goodness for oestrogen HRT.
It might just be stress for you, but look out for hot flushes, joints aching, fatigue, tearfulness, irritability, night waking as possible signs of menopause.

Hey, I'm 48 and have had similar. The other day I put my 13 year old's medication out with a glass of milk (for his spots) and before I knew it I'd taken it Confused. I have no idea why I did it but I was rushing round at the time, usual morning rush. I also cut up an onion the other day for a cheese sandwich and then went to look for it and I'd put it in the bin.

I blame menopause, it's just the gift that keeps on giving.

GoWalkabout · 11/04/2021 11:52

Aagh I recognise those mornings.
