Hand foot and mouth! AAhhhhhh!

DD2 has hand, foot and mouth, just noticed the blisters this morning. She seems fine, no other symptoms, which is lucky because when DD2 had it, she couldn;t eat or drink for 2 days and it was awful!!!
Question is how long should we be confined for? Thankfully my Mum's coming to help out for a couple of days, but I seem to remember that they're still contagious until the blisters crust over (mmmm nice!) but this takes AGES. We were confined two weeks ago due to croup. I can;t bear it!

the advise on this is quite confusing. I will look it up.

here it says sometimes keep the child away for a few days.

There's more info here

It basically says the infectious period is mostly in the first few days but they can be mildly infectious for a few weeks.

I kept my dd away from other children until her temperature had gone done and the spots were getting better. This was only three days.

Thanks Belgo. That's a help. I'll keep her away from greoups etc for a week. Hopefully that will do it.
DD1 had it in July, and is showing no signs yet, I was going to take her to groups etc (whilst MUm looks after DD2), I am hoping that she may have some immunity since it wasn;t that long ago. What do you think? It seems a pity to keep her in if she's not got it. DD2 didn;t get it in July, which is surprising because they are constantly cuddling and kissing (and pushing and grabbing too!), lots of physical contact which would be impossible to stop.

If she's not showing any symptoms, then I would still let your dd1 go to her usual groups.
