How long after grommetts put in till things back to "normal"?

Hi,

DS2, 11 months, is having grommetts put in on Thursday. I am wondering what I need to know. This is all sudden, and we are going to the ENT tomorrow, but my knowledge is poor.

He's had a GA before so I am not worried about that, but how do I handle things like baths, swimming, even normal "play" with dad and his DB?

Also, we are due to see some friends on Sunday. Do you think he would be OK to see them?

I am sure I must be missing something really obvious and big about them, so any advice would be great.

Thanks,

D has had 2 sets of grommets, you'll be amazed at how speedy his recovery will be!

DD couldn't swimm for two weeks (but had adenoids out as well), as long as he doesn't do any swimming under water or diving (I know he's 11 months so that won't apply.) he is fine to swim. BAthing and hairwashing you could use cottonwool soaked in vaseline initially to prevent soapy water entering his ear canal, then after his 6 week check just wash hair normally but avoid getting soapy water in to his ears, if it does just wipe away with tissue. He'll be fine seeing friends on Sunday an he'll be able to play normally with his dad and DB. It may be a good idea to have some child frienly painkillers aroun though just in case he needs them.

HTH. Don't worry it's a very simple and quick proceure.
