I have had some dental problems lately with my front teeth. Following an accident I had a root canal in my upper left incisor by an experienced dentist, about 3.5 weeks ago. It does not feel settled at all, I keep getting general feeling and a slight 'electric' pain in it all the time. I saw an endodontist for a review who said the root canal was perfectly done and couldn't see any issues - he said the likely culprit for the feeling was the next door incisor (which to be fair is very sensitive to hot and cold). He told me that I should wait and see as things could well settle down yet.
But what I can't understand is how an incisor on one side can cause feeling in one on the other side - is this really possible scientifically?
I feel so miserable by all of this, I just want to rip my teeth out and start again instead of living in chronic discomfort, but I'm worried that if I have a root canal in the other incisor it won't actually help and I'll still be uncomfortable. I'm scared I'm set up for a lifetime of pain. I also get pain in my cheek, although the dentist said this is from anxiety / clenching.
