It's so painful - feels like I have a marble lodged on the left side of my thoat. Ohhhh it Hurrrrts.

Anyone know what may be causing this? I don't feel ill, and it will be gone in a few days .. to pop up again in a few weeks!

Could it be one of those tonsil stones?

pinkteddy · 10/11/2007 22:44

could be allergy? I had this - my sore throat kept on recurring. GP was convinced it was an allergy and prescribed a nasal spray. Started using the spray the same day, throat was gone by that evening!

colditz · 10/11/2007 22:45

Ugh! what the hell is a tonsil stone!

Sorry, a bit disgusting, but those little yellow lumps that sometimes come up, they can get stuck in your tonsils and can give you a sore throat. Can you see anything when you look at the back of your throat?

colditz · 10/11/2007 22:53

no, just had a good poke, there's nothing there, just a big red shiny tonsil

gross.

Lol @ 'just had a good poke'

They can be pretty well hidden, but i get sore throats quite frequently and I always feel like I have something stuck in my throat.
If it gets worse go to the docs and they'll probably give you some pennicillin or antibiotics.

colditz · 10/11/2007 22:58

It's making my ear itch

I will go to the doctor if I get amother one.

Yes, mine was affecting my ear quite badly and then i got ulcers on my tonsils! I went to the docs and they did some blood tests and discovered im borderline anaemic which can cause ulcers in the throat apparently. Could you be anaemic?

Lazarou · 10/11/2007 23:06

Also they checked for glandular fever. If you have been feeling run down, lethargic etc then i would definitely go to the docs.

colditz · 10/11/2007 23:06

It's not very likely, My thingy when pregnant measures around 14, but then my mum was anaemic so maybe...

convinced you are allergic to something!

colditz · 17/11/2007 21:11

The only thing I know I am allergic to is Kiwi fruit, and a mild nickel reaction.
