Hungry for breath

Hi everyone,

I was just looking for advice. For the past year or so, ive been getting spells where I feel hungry for breath. When I breathe in its like I can’t catch my breath. Sometimes it makes me yawn. I am starting to worry 😢I’ve recently started feeling a tightness in my neck, chest & back when I breathe in.

I had full blood tests a couple of months ago which tested iron, thyroid etc. I was still not feeling right even though they came back as normal so I rang back & over the phone a separate GP decided it was ‘mood’ related & said to up my exercise (I exercise most days anyway)

I rang today as Googling frightened the life out of me & couldnt get through. I just feel very let down & worried. I am an anxious person but I manage it well & know the difference when something is physically wrong Sad any advice welcome xx

I've had this (or something very similar) a few times. For me it's always associated with periods of anxiety. The more I fixate on it the worse it gets. I've always figured it can't be too bad though because it doesn't prevent me from doing anything like running. It's always resolved itself in time.

This can be a thyroid issue. I know you said you were tested but sometimes borderline or just within normal range results can still be an indication of thyroid issues

@@3ormorecharacters@GreenChipsthank you for your replies. My tsh was 3.1 which my sis and mum (both have underactive tgyroid) say is on the higher side of normal but my gp who rang back was insistent it was fine.

@3ormorecharacters yeah that’s true actually. I can run/walk etc fine. Its actually worse when I lay down and I guess I do focus on it then. I think being a mum now has made me more health conscious as I want to make sure I’m here for him ya know.
