Partial Denture Help!

I had a tooth extracted and partial denture for my upper premolar fitted yesterday. I can not get used to the way it feels like there are 2 bands of metal between my upper and lower teeth when I bite down. Is this normal?

I have a partial denture..a valplast one so allegedly uber comfy and invisible. It still annoys me!
I'm having a new one made and tbh the only way to get used to them is just to wear it til it becomes normal in your mouth!

So this is probably pretty normal then. The dentist did say it would be uncomfortable but I imagined that would be due to rubbing on soft tissues rather than my teeth.

Other than the feeling of wire between my teeth when I bite down it is easy for me to forget that it's there. Until I'm hungry and need to eat something.

Eating with the wire sensation is impossible. I can't bite my teeth together properly so can't actually chew and have been living off yoghurt and protein shakes. I do need to lose a few lbs... Grin

As an update - incase anyone reading through has a similar problem. I went to the dentist today and he cut the wires off. Fortunately the fit is snug enough that I don't currently need to add a fixative but he did advise me to be aware this could change in the future.

I am so happy to be able to clench my jaw again and bite things!

The dentist is going to refer me for botox injections in my jaw to try and stop the clenching as this could damage any implant they put in.

@NaughtyButNice have you got a denture for just one tooth? I didn't know that was possible...
