Arthritis...and thoroughly fed up

I’ve had a bunch of blood tests to check what type of arthritis I have. The consultant is sure it is one of the inflammatory types - my knees are very swollen and painful, and very warm to the touch.

I’m just so sick of not being able to get around as I normally do - I’m 53 and usually very active. I’ve developed a sharp pain behind my left knee today just adding to the joy.

I have a telephone consult on Tuesday to discuss the results of the blood tests, believe it or not I’m petrified she will say all normal so I will basically be left with this pain and a drastically reduced quality of life.

I had a heart attack 2 years ago, got really fit, lost loads of weight and felt amazing. Now things are worse than before the heart attack

Just moaning really, no questions to ask!

That does sound really tough OP, I hope they find something in the bloods which can be treated to calm your symptoms. In the mean while can something cool help take the heat out of your knees? Frozen peas in a thick tea towel for 15 mins?

@TangerineGreen thank you for replying. I saw my post drift down the page and felt even more sorry for myself.

I will def try some cooling, thank you. I had a good read about arthritis generally last night and think this has kicked off with a really stressful move (horrific solicitor) and made worse by my trying to carry on as normal (with a house move!)

Thanks again

Hi @Bunnyfuller how are you doing? Did you get to try some cooling time in today? Sounds like you’ve had a really busy time, it’s so tempting to push through and keep going when we’re stressed and have a big job to do (and what’s bigger than moving house!?! It’s like going to the gym for several hours!). Even if the bloods don’t show anything I guess you have an idea of what might have flared it up. Have you still got lots of boxes to unpack? Do you have a bit of help you can call on? Take care of yourself op x

Hi @TangerineGreen

I didn’t end up resting yesterday, or cooling joints, and today was a busy work day.

Docs telephone appt tomorrow for blood results. Hopefully will get either a solution or a way forward.

Thank you
