Hi so basically I'm 25 years old recently discovered I need to have my gallbladder removed , so the first thing I've done is google the effects of having it removed . The first thing I've noticed people seem to say is rapid weight gain !

This really worry's me weight gain is something I really struggle with mentally , I have had 2 children and after my c section 5 months ago it's taken me such a long time to get my belly somewhat flatter . As from what people have said even when dieting the lbs just keep piling on !

I know it just sounds ridiculous to be the only thing in worrying about but can anyone tell me if this was the case for theming if so was it easy to exercise and diet correctly to keep of !

Thankyou x

I had mine removed in August and I've (intentionally) lost 25kg since September. No weight related side effects one way or the other as far as I can tell... Actuality, no lasting effects at all really!

I've never heard that - I had my gallbladder removed 6 years ago and never had a problem losing weight when I've needed to. I think it's more likely that some people put on weight after having it removed because they'd been on a very low fat diet before to prevent attacks and, once it's removed, can eat more freely so consume more calories. Incidentally, losing weight rapidly is a risk factor for gallstones in the first place.

I had my gallbladder removed Thursday, the surgeon said to me that some people gain weight after surgery but he thinks it’s because they can eat fatty food without pain and so that is the reason for the weight gain.

I've never heard that. I lost 12lbs in the month after having mine out.
