Bartholin's Cyst Marsupialization

Hey everyone, need some advice!

I wrote on here a few months ago about my bartholins cyst that had come back after being drained during labour. I tried to pop it with a needle and it did shrink it but it has come back over the last few months and is probably the size of a golf ball.

It hurts and I can't deal with it anymore! I have been in contact with my doctor about getting it drained again but they've informed me that it won't get rid of the cyst as it has nowhere to drain and the procedure I would need is marsupialization.

Now I'm petrified of any sort of surgery and I know it's not major and people have to go through a lot worse but I am just so scared. They have offered to drain it again for me but I'm reluctant to get it if it's just going to come straight back.

My question is, has anyone had theirs drained and it's gone away for good?

And also any positive stories on the actual surgery if I don't get it just drained? Has it come back? What was recovery like? How long were you in hospital?

I'm just nervous and looking for advice.

Thanks :-)

Poor you. Thanks

I have had Bartholins cysts operated on (general anaesthetic, overnight stay) and marsupialised (different occasion, outpatient procedure, took less than an hour).

The healing was quicker from the marsupialisation. This procedure also helps it not to get reinfected.

It's not exactly a piece of cake, but it's nothing to dread either. Go and get it fixed! You'll be so pleased you did. Wishing you lots of luck. Smile
