Does anyone know what this pain is

Been walking quite a bit lately (car broke so walking everywhere). Today the back of my ankle (I think it's called archilles tendon) is really aching and feels sore/swollen just on my left leg. It's making a kind of like stretch noise when I move. What can it be? Is it because I've been walking with rubbish shoes on

Yes. I've had thst. You can find stretches to help online and try icing and elevating. If it's making that squeaky feeling im guessing it's pretty sore! Also in soles specially for it helped me.
Sudden increase in miles walked or run can do it.

It's a really strange feeling, I'm not really in pain but it's sore and achey. I thought might be be the sudden increase in walking. I'll have a look on line for some stretches - thank you

You need to take the pressure off it and start wearing a slight heel, even indoors, for a couple of days. Use some voltarol too. If it is hot and sore, then as another pp says, icing it will help too. And rest it.

Sounds like it could possibly be achilles tendonitis, so maybe search the symptoms and see what you think.

If it is no better in a few days, then speak to your GP.

I think it sounds like Achilles tendonitis too.

I suffer with it on and off, and found these really helped

It flares up if I wear dead flat shoes, like flip-flops, or walk around barefoot. It's one of the reasons I hate "shoes off" houses.

Crocs are also brilliant for it, but I only wear them round the house, in case someone I know sees me.Wink

Have you recently used fluoroquinolone antibiotics e.g. Cipro?

barleycoping75 · 25/03/2021 16:16

Thanks @LakieLady I've sent a picture and asked dh to stop and boots on his way home from work.

@BeautifulDay12 not been on antibiotics.

It looks a bit swollen today. I've been in work and it's hard to sit still and rest it so I'm probably making it worse each day Sad
