Endometriosis surgeon recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone along these lines. Who DOES think surgery can cure endometriosis and who doesn't do hysterectomies.

I would really appreciate any recommendations.

I don't know specific people but our local Spire hospital has a dedicated endo clinic and one of my friends had non-hysterectomy surgery a couple of years to treat her endo. As I understand it they "cleaned out" her insides to remove the endo tissue. I think she still suffers to a certain extent though.

I have severe endometriosis and am on two really good Facebook groups where people often ask this kind of question. Would recommend you join and ask on there if you have FB. One is called Endometriosis Guidance and (something else but can't remember). If you're not on fb pm me and I can recommend one in Yorkshire if that's any good.

Thank you, thank you.

I will search for the group, and PM you as well @Satsunday if you don't mind?

Yep no problem Smile

Whereabouts are you OP? I have had endo for years and after far too many years seeing different specialists and feeling like I was fobbed off I did a lot of research and found one of the best in the UK. He is nothing short of amazing in my opinion and the only gynae I would ever go to. He is a private specialist though, he does do nhs work too but guess if you are not in his area you would have to go to see him privately.

Shuttheblinds · 23/03/2021 21:11

@GreyBow this one is in north west area.

welshweasel · 23/03/2021 21:14

From personal experience I would rate Chris Mann (Birmingham) and Anthony Griffiths (Cardiff).

Shuttheblinds · 23/03/2021 21:21

I have also seen Chris Mann and Mr Pickersgill. They are both very good and well known specialists in endo.

If you want to pm me I will give you the details of the consultant I see now though. I preferred him to the others, just seemed so much better and really worked with me to do what was right for me and helped me so much. But only personal choice, there are other really good specialists about too.

Prior to having a laparoscopy for what turned out to be the most severe type of endo (can’t remember the term now as it was a few years ago now) I researched surgeons quite heavily and I was very happy with my choice: Sanjay Vyas based in Bristol. I have not yet suffered a relapse of symptoms but would go back to him if I needed to. It’s as others have referenced part of specialist endo clinics. I was never told it could be cured tho, more subdued and managed. I hope you find what you need as endo is hideous isn’t it.

I had this doctor do my surgery, he also did my sisters. Was really happy with the result, pain free afterwards, and conceived quickly (endo was stopping me)

I did the whole nine yards and ended up going for a hysterectomy. It was the only solution. Can PM you the surgeon - top female, had to go private, london based.

AgnesNaismith · 23/03/2021 21:57

@AmandaHoldensLips please could you pm me the name of your surgeon?

GreyBow · 29/03/2021 11:08

Thank you so so much. Sorry for vanishing, and I need to name change soon as I have been too outing recently.

I need to get on my laptop and off the app so I am PM.

Thank you 🙏🏻

Can anyone recommend a consultant in Birmingham? I'm newly diagnosed and trying to find my way through Smile

Nancy's Nook on Facebook is a really good page and there is a list of trusted surgeons from across the globe.
Good luck 🙂
