What just happened?

Had a very strange thing happen tonight. I went in the shower at about 8pm and felt perfectly well. Just as I was getting out of the shower my stomach started churning and I had diarrhoea. This lasted about 20 minutes. I felt very unwell, my legs were shaking and I felt hot and like I was going to pass out. I finally managed to get off the toilet and went to lie down when I started needing to be sick. Back on the toilet with simultaneous V and D many times. It finally stopped and I felt very shaky whilst bleaching every inch of the bathroom. Now nearly three hours after it started I feel perfectly normal I just have a very gurgly tummy.

Has anyone ever experienced rapid onset and then rapid stopping of V and D? Is that it or should I be prepared for more in the night? Do I now need to be off work for 48 hours? I've never had a stomach bug as an adult but it seems bizarre that it started and finished in under three hours!

It could well be a big. I’d take tomorrow off work and rest and drink lots.

Food poisoning?

Food poisoning is usually more than once & then stops (from bitter experience 😭)
Did you eat something you wouldn’t normally eat?

I've had this before. Ate a (unknowingly) dodgy pizza. Watched a film in the cinema with DP, started to feel a bit funny on the bus home, got home and had D&V like no ones business. Was fine after a bit.

Sounds like food poisoning.

Not eaten anything different from the rest of the family who are all fine and not eaten anything unusual. I felt so unwell and now feel fine although my tummy is making some very strange noises!

I had this last week. Came from nowhere. Sick for about 3 hours straight. Then it just passed. Was absolutely starving after. So odd. No one else in the house caught it

Sounds like D&V 'noro'. Can finish as fast as it starts. I was the same as you, 3hrs but had my tummy making some delightful noises.

My boss told me to stay off for 48hrs AFTER my last episode.

I had something like this a few months ago. Very rapid onset, severe D&V for about an hour, then I passed out on my bathroom floor. Woke up, drank some water and was fine. I had not eaten anything off nor knew anyone else sick. Very bizarre and I've wondered what happened ever since!
