Vaginal bleeding with bowel movement?

Can anyone help? My recent smear test was normal, but for the last 18m or so, occasionally (normally just before my period is due), I'll start bleeding with each bowel movement. Not just streaks, but full on clots. I'm often caught unawares and unprepared (ok, well, I've learnt now to carry tampons!). It's definitely vaginal. No pain or discomfort. Sometimes it's right before a period, sometimes it's a week or so before my period is due and it only lasts about 5-10 mins after the bm. What is it? I've mentioned it to a gynae and the nurse at the GP and neither seemed worried. But I am!

It could be a polyp? I’ve had the one or two over the years and this has been a symptom. (All have been removed and have been benign).

Would it be a cervical polyp or a vaginal polyp? What sort of polyp was yours?

I’ve had both types. I had the cervical one removed under a General Anaesthetic and the vaginal ones were removed by my GP.
