Gallstones!

Hiya,

I got diagnosed with gallstones via scan in January and have been having gallstone attacks since November.

Im reaching out to anyone who is dealing with it during lockdown or those who have had them but had to wait for surgery.

My day to day pain is getting worse now, I'll be phoning the GP in the morning. I haven't had an attack in a few weeks but it now feels like ive got something digging into my ribs constantly. Is anyone else going through this? I don't expect to hear from the surgeons anytime soon! Just looking for coping mechanisms as I'm struggling.

Thanks

I have been having gallstone symptoms since the middle of last year.

I was recommended to take buscopan tablets by a&e and I have found this has helped keep the severe attacks away. I do daily get pain in between my shoulder blades though and I have found my digestive system is affected.

Over time I have gradually been eating less and less foods to try to stop symptoms.

I am currently awaiting a scan for suspected gallstones. Have had s couple of really unpleasant attacks and I'm now paranoid about what I eat because I'm scared of triggering another one.

@Cherry889 I'm sorry to hear you've been going through it for so long! I'm feeling the same as you and eating less and less. My appetite has just gone! My digestive system has been affected too, I was needing to run to the toilet after a meal but it's started to ease off.

@AlexaShutUp I hope your scan comes soon, the attacks are awful and you just feel helpless. I've been getting fewer now so hopefully they lessen with you too.

Thanks Elkie, I don’t have long left now as have my op Thursday next week. Getting nervous now but can’t wait to not feel pain or worry when eating. I have lost alot of weight due to the low fat diet nearly 4 stone.

Sorry I can’t give any helpful tips really other than the buscopan.

I find apple cider vinegar helps. I drink about 1/4 vinegar to 3/4 warm water. Hot water bottles, painkillers and my absolute lifesavers, peppermint oil capsules and tic-tacs.
