Panicking a bit here , I saw a new doctor on Thursday I had breathing problems, have asthma, she said I had a chest infection and gave me amoxicillin for five days, had to have a covid test also and she said if it came back negative on Friday to pick up a prescription for a three day course of steroids from my chemist and take them. Test came back negative late last night so I called to chemist today and no prescription had been sent through but pharmacist gave me a three day course of deltacortril ent 5 mg to take and I'm to get a prescription sent through to him Monday.
I took six of the tablets at 4 pm today, I was just reading the leaflet online accompanying these steroids and in the 'Before you take' section it mentioned under active thyroid and as I've already taken them I'm panicking something will happen to me! Doctor said my heart was racing when I seen her so I'm scared.
Anyone medical know should I take tomorrow's dose or wait till I speak to the doctor on Monday? TIA

OP, are you on treatment with thyroxine for your underactive thyroid?
If so, there is no problem with taking steroids.
Steroids reduce the amount of TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) from your pituitary gland. This hormone “tells” your thyroid to produce thyroxine.
Your own thyroid can’t do this anyway, which is why you are on thyroxine replacement!
Further, a short course of steroid wouldn’t matter anyway, as a few days of lower thyroxine level is not life threatening.

@Babdoc Your reply has reassured me thanks very much! I will continue with the steroids.
I am on thyroid medication Eltroxin 50mg, my breathing feels better this morning than it has for the last few days which is a relief.

Glad the steroid is helping, OP. It’s usually very effective at damping down the asthmatic reaction in your airways, letting them relax and dilate normally again, instead of being constricted and wheezy.
Your GP knows her stuff on asthma, even if she is new to you!
Anxiety always seems to make breathing feel even more difficult, so try to relax and let the steroids finish sorting out your lungs. Best wishes.
