Nobbly Breast Lump - Feel Sick

Pegg · 13/03/2021 14:25

I have a breast lump that is quite big and mostly a smooth oval shape. One end feels all nobbly though. I'm going to see a GP about it on Monday but my mum had breast cancer so I'm extra worried. Has anyone had a nobbly/ irregular lump and it not turned out to be cancer?

Hello! Try not to worry too much. So many lumps are nothing at all! Not even a cyst, just normal tissue. I’ve had lumps before that I’ve worried about as they’ve seemed fixed and immobile or a strange shape and they’ve been nothing.

My Mum had breast cancer too and as a result I have started on the screening programme early and from age 40 have had yearly mammograms. It might be worth you asking about this?

My latest one, resulted in a recall for more images, which was a real worry, but even that turned out to be nothing.

You’re doing the right thing getting to the Dr but try and keep it in perspective for now and don’t panic. Easier said than done I know.

Thank you. I'm only 30 so hoping that's in my favour too. I would be much less worried if it didn't feel so grainy/ bobbly. I have been so worried it has ruined my weekend. Hope the Doctor can give some reassurance.

Your age is definitely also on your side Smile

Try not to worry, I think your Dr will refer you to the breast clinic as they always do, even if they are pretty sure it’s nothing - so be prepared for that and don’t panic. In my experience the appointments come through quickly.

Good luck and try and find something to take your mind off it for now.

@Pegg it's such an awful worry! I too have a breast lump and have been referred to the breast clinic, appointment is the 25th. The fear is unreal. Mines too feels oval and smallish, no pain with it but it's very moveable. Yours is maybe just breast tissue, but definitely get yourself to the doctors and have it checked out.

Sounds like my cyst, also felt bumpy at one end. Almost like two separate consistencies. Was huge, aground 3 inch by 2. Was a simple cyst, drained and now gone. Nearly killed me waiting for the appointment, you will be fine 😊

I had a large, oval, bumpy-ish breast lump that I went to the gp for late last year. They referred me on the 2 week wait, which did freak me out a bit, but as pp said it’s standard. I’m 34. It turned out to be normal breast tissue! Just a big lumpy blob of it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Which was a relief! Try not to worry op. The breast service are fantastic and they’ll get you seen to very quickly. I know the wait is awful, but try to distract yourself as best you can Flowers

Hey @Pegg,

I have a similar lump! Did you find out what yours was? I’m sick with worry
