Sinusitis, how long should I give it before I resort to going to my GP?

I had a cold throughout half-term, no problem. But when the dds started back at school it turned nastier. Sore throat and now completely blocked nose and it feels like I've got a face full of gunk. (Sorry if tmi!)
Anyway, have survived this since last Thursday by taking Daynurse (which eases it a bit and stops the aching) and Nightnurse pretty much every six hours. Well, nothing seems to be easing (although I can't stop blowing my hooter). It just feels awful, sort of blocked and solid and tbh, I'm fed up.

Anyone got any ideas? Or should I just go to the Docs?

Go to the Docs. Speaking from a load of experience when I was younger, if you've got sinusitis you'll need something stronger to shift it. With sinusitis you usually have pain in you face too.
Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, 'tis really really painful and it's starting to get me down.

Hi PPM, I really feel for you, I had sinusitus for just over 8 weeks, it has been clear up for a couple of weeks now.

I did try the day/night nurse and then go some decongestant tablets that I do not have the name of since I used all of it as well as Otrivine Sinusitis spray. The spray was my saving grace, it unblocked my nose imediately and helped with the sore face. I did go to the doctor as well and they just said to keep taking the spray and just wait it out, a hot bath also works.

Hope you feel better soon.

Well Pesto, if I were your GP, I'd say you need Abs now-so go!

StUnTmAnTaLcY · 06/11/2007 12:36

Tis longwinded pesto....shall i tell you what happened with my sini?

MegaLegs · 06/11/2007 12:38

Oh pesto, that sounds grim you poor love. I had it last winter for the first time in my life and it went on for about 2 months - I didn't go to the doctor though but I should have.

Go see your GP if you can or even the Nurse practitioner - the might give you some ABs.

Just remembered, Doc did prescribe ab, bub it did not work. Like I said, the nasal spray and sinisitus meds worked.

Thanks for your help & sympathies ladies. Very grateful. I've just eaten a chicken & coleslaw sandwich that tasted of nothing so I've decided I will ring the surgery this afternoon. I doubt whether I will get seen for a day or 2, but at least I shall be doing something constructive about it. Have also got some menthol crystals in a cup which my pilotess friend recommended.
