Ibuprofen in pregnancy

This was something I was going to bring up with my midwife at my appointment today but it got cancelled at the last minute so I haven't been able to discuss it. I'm 31+3 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby and for the last week or so I've been suffering from horrendous hip pain on my left side (the pain travels a little into my groin and top of thigh) but predominantly in my hip. I've been taking paracetamol so far. Normally two in the morning and two in the evening. But they're really not doing much at all to help me. Yesterday afternoon / evening the pain was so bad I could barely weight bare on that side. It's really not ideal because I have an 18 month and 3yr old too and at the moment am doing 4 walks a day back and forth nursery dropping off and picking up. As the paracetamol isn't touching the pain, would it be suitable for me to take ibuprofen instead or alongside. I'm thinking this because I feel like an anti-inflammatory may help. TIA.

I did, my MW said that it was ok.
However, I am not a medical professional so you should check with a pharmacist or similar.

It’s definitely not recommended. Don’t take it before speaking to your gp or midwife.

NHS advice below
Ibuprofen isn't normally recommended in pregnancy – especially if you're 30 or more weeks – unless it's prescribed by a doctor. This is because there might be a link between taking ibuprofen in pregnancy and some birth defects, in particular damage to the baby's heart and blood vessels. There may also be a link between taking ibuprofen in early pregnancy and miscarriage.

She is 31 weeks
Still worth checking though

My DD (33 weeks pregnant now) is usually on a combo of pain killers as she has EDS but was told to stop the ibuprofen from 24 weeks due to the potential effect on the babies heart.
I would not take any more until you have spoken to your midwife/consultant. DDs consultant was quite adamant that it is not safe.

Thank you. I have an appointment next Tuesday with my midwife so will have a chat then. In the mean time I'll stick to paracetamol

Thank you for that. Believe it or not, my 3rd baby and I've never been told the potential risks or not to take it. I haven't actually taken any at all. I've just been taking paracetamol, which I'll now continue with

Speak to a GP as they may prescribe cocodamol.
