Just thought I'd let you know I had the dental implant put in yesterday. I was so, so nervous but the person that did it was a real pro., made me feel at ease. I could feel all the cutting, stitching but it didn't hurt at all! The major bonus was that he didn't need to use any other bone than mine to pack around the implant so saved £400 which I am dead pleased about!
Look a bit like Leslie Ash and know that it was pretty gruesome, just pleased it's all over. Also gives me an excuse to stop drinking!!!!!

BH

Can I ask how much in total ???

DBoy totalled my crown and in doing so fractured the root beyond the gum line...root had to be removed.....beyond repair.

Taken delivery of a Maryland bridge today 325, hae been told an implant will cost 3 k

Hi GymJunkie

Completely sympathise. My original accident happened 20 years ago and had loads of root canal treatment in my teens. 2 years ago found a fracture and had to come out. Always knew I would have an implant but had to have the same bridge as you are having and still have it now (i hate the bl**dy thing).
In total it will probably cost £2500. I am seeing a senior consultant at a hospital. Saw some other private dentist and wasn't happy!

Any more questions please ask I feel fine though. Infact I will probably feel awful tomorrow!!!!

blossomhill just caught up with you. Glad it went well. I have been to another implant lecture this week and those boys make it look easy I can tell you!
Let me know how stage two goes.

blossomhill · 02/11/2004 22:53

Thanks Jasper. I cannot believe that I haven't had any pain it just feels weird to talk. I had it done at St Georges hosital in Tooting. It was in the Maxiofacial bit.
Have a check up Thursday and hopefully all should be well.
While I was having it done it seemed gruesome but honestly didn't hurt. The extraction hurt more!
Should have 2nd stage around Jan so I'll let you know!

Blossom I don't know any of the Tooting surgeons but we have some good ones in and around Glasgow if anyone here is interested.
keep smiling!

blossomhill · 02/11/2004 23:37

Hi Jasper

Had my check up Thursday and everything is fine. Had my stitches taken out which was the most uncomfortable out of everything. Looking at having impressions for the crown beginning of Jan. I can't wait

That is fab news.
Is it a front tooth implant?

blossomhill · 10/11/2004 23:20

Yes Jasper it is. It is my front right tooth. The thing is I still have a stich in my gum that hasn't dissolved. consuntant took the others out last week but left this one to dissolve. Should I be worried?

OP posts:

Did he/she tell you the stitch was being left to dissolve?
If so don't worry.

Or are you worried it has been left there by mistake? If this is the case ring your consultant and let them know there is still a stitch in place - you could take it out yourself if you have sharp nail scissors and a steady hand but don't tell anyone I told you
