I've been having strange chest pains/pressure for couple of months. Ended up in a&e few weeks ago as I thought heart attack, they thought it was long-covid. Since then my ribs are sore to touch and keep getting a kind of shooting pain in my ribs, someone said it might be costochondritos. If you have had it, does it sound like it

Hi yes I’ve had it for years. My manual job started it about 15 years ago. Mine is on my right hand side, constantly feels heavy, with the occasional striking pain you describe
On a bad day it’s very painful, and goes into spasm, the only thing I can do is rest, take ibroprofen and put a hot water bottle on it, it usually gets worse before it gets better unfortunately, but usually subsides after about 12 hours.

DP had it a couple of years ago, that does sound similar. He had sharp pains in his chest and pain breathing in. He had an ecg iirc to rule out heart issues and it was just dealt with via the GP.

Yes I’ve had it. After a mild chest infection I was in agony around ribs. GP sent me to a&e worried about a pulmonary embolism. Wasn’t that and was given strong anti inflammatories and pain killers. Dr said was as painful as broken ribs. Week later was fine.
The pain was exhausting and also stopped me sleeping. Not fun and hope i never have it again.

Yep! Mine is mainly on the left, under the boob - was worried I had breast cancer! the gaps between the ribs can be very painful when pressed and sometimes it's heavy to breath or rather when I try for a deep breath. Lots of the time, like now, it doesn't hurt at all.

Yes - for several years now. I thought I was having a heart attack too and fairly often wonder how I'll know if it is heart pain or chest. I find it quite scary and it has put me off certain types of exercise.

I have pain on my right side, just under my ribs but it's from my gastritis, have had it fit many years. It flares up every now and then.

Yes, had it about 3 weeks ago. Full on chest pains which felt like a heart attack and then a couple of weeks of immense pressure in my chest, like I was wearing a bra made of iron. Strangely worse when I sat in the car as driver or passenger.

Painkillers worked. I too have had Covid and recently found I have raised rheumatoid levels in my blood which may have some bearing on it. Bloody glad it's gone though, it is very uncomfortable...
