I had one many years ago. Tbh I thought they were no longer done (like tonsils and adenoids). I was about 14 or 15 I think, and this is twenty years ago, so may be completely irrelevant now. I was in overnight prior to the op, and discharged a few hours after it, feeling pretty woozy. I imagine it would be day surgery now. I remember two things, waking up with my sinuses packed with gauze and being a bit paniced about not being able to breathe, and then having it pulled out which was really horrible. However it was really effective, as I've not had sinusitis since.

thanks for that my ds has had problems with his sinuses and migraines since he was six so hopin it will help as he has missed so much school.yes he is having day surgery just not looking forward to putting him to sleep as when he had a mri scan it took five of us to hold him down.

My DC has sinus problems, but they seemed reluctant to do anything. but my sympathy as DS suffered with headaches for months while they were diagnosing it. I said to the doctor that I thought it was sinus but he said no and it wasn't until we had the result of the MRI that they finally gave him antibiotics. He was really miserable with it for 6 months.

Is he on antihistamines? my son's sinus problems are caused by allergies

my ds was treated for migraines for two years until he had his mri scan then they said there were alot of blockages in the sinuses.yes my ds has been ill on and off mostly on since april this year (he is off school today feeling sick dizzy and got a headache)he does have a spray but these dont help.he seems to pick every bug that is going around.his immune system was brilliant until he was six yrs old how old is your son.i think they are only doing something now as he was off school from april until july.

MY DS is 12 but it was when he was 8 he complained of headaches in May June and I remembered the year before he had complained of headaches at the same time of year which was the hayfever season.

Because he had just had a febrile convulsion at the age of 8 and half they decided to rule everything else out. He had an ECG, full eye check and the mri (which thankfully he was no problem as he is fascinated by machinery)
This took from June to December and they finally diagnosed the sinuses then. He needed 2 lots of AB's to clear it up completely. He has had ab's for it 2 or 3 times, but the hospital said they wouldn't do anything unless he had it more than 7 times in a year.
He really wasn't happy for a while and was bullied at school because his breathe smelt.

From what I have read it is very difficult to diagnose in children.

Hope your ds is okay and this makes him better

thanks, they think my ds also suffers from migraines, but the trigger is his sinuses.
