Hi im wondering if anyone can help ease my mind or calm me a little.

I was dating a guy last year and we had unprotected sex. We
stopped seeing each other about September last year.
Roll on a on to now, it has come to light from mutual friends that he is very active sexually with men and women and could of been potentially sleeping around when I was seeing him.

I am so terrified that I have an STI. I have no symptoms or any changes to my health since we broke up but the more Im reading about HIV ect the more im going out of my mind.

Luckily I have received my home testing kit this morning which is a swab and blood test which checks for HIV Syphilis Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia and should get the test results within 7 days. Im trying not to think about it but I feel crying all the time! please help

Okay, well you've done the first step and will be doing a test. It was foolish of you to have unprotected sex without a condom. Anyone can have an sti, you only need to sleep with one infected person, doesn't matter if you just sleep with one or if you sleep around. Anyone can get it. Hopefully as you've had no symptoms you're fine, but it's surprising to me that you're only worried after hearing about his past.

Hi OP. I was in a similar situation recently, I got a home test to put my mind at ease and everything was fine. If you've not had symptoms that's a good sign (although not all STIs have symptoms, a lot do), and you're doing absolutely the right thing by getting checked - chances are you'll be all clear and it'll give you the peace of mind you need. And before anyone comes on here giving you a hard time about not using a condom - yes, we all know we should use them, yes it's careless not to, but it happens. When I was freaking out before my test I confided in a couple of close friends who also admitted quietly that they had done the same in the past. They weren't proud of it and the worry and guilt meant they never did it again, but they had still made mistakes of their own in their time. Take it as a learning for the future and don't be too hard on yourself.

Thank you for the reply's! yes it was so foolish of me I have definitely learnt my lesson. I trusted him when I was with him and never had any worries untill now! we wasn't dating for long and did use condoms at the beginning. It was more of a fling but since ive been told this news its terrified me! the home testing kit has just made me even more scared but I guess i'll have to wait X
