What could this head and neck pain be?

I noticed that my neck was sore on Saturday morning. It was painful when turning to the left side in particular but also when turning the other way. This developed over the course of the day and became an all over headache, but the worst of the pain was definitely in the left side, base of skull just above hairline and behind left ear. The pain when I move my head is sharp and makes me wince if I move quickly without thinking.

The general headache has gone now but the left side discomfort is still there four days in.

Background to this is that I had the Pfizer vaccine on Tuesday last week. I was fine afterwards with just a sore arm for a few hours, but after a couple of days I got quite bad diarrhoea and stomach cramps which I’m assuming was a side effect of the jab. The head pain overlapped with the stomach upset and I initially thought that this must also be a vaccine side effect as I know headaches are on the list.

I’m starting to wonder though, given that the head pain is mainly brought in by movement, if it’s something else. The only other thing I could possibly think of is that I went for a run on Friday and it was extremely windy - I was blasted on that side of my body as I was running around a race course, completely open to the elements! When I got home, my head and face felt very ‘invigorated’.

I’ve been reading about occipital neuralgia which seems to fit my symptoms pretty well, but can’t think what would have caused it.
