Where can I get the flu jab privately?

My mam said Boots are doing them? I know Asda did them a few years back but don't know if they do now. I suppose I should ring round, just wondered if anyone had had one? We all had dire flu last year so I was hoping to try to avoid it this year and be able to care for the boys and dh if they get it. Dh should have the jab but I can't imagine him finding the time during the day.

apparently there is a shortage this year on the jabs. dont know if that is affecting the private jabs tho.

Sorry if this is an unwelcome addition but ....

my MIL (age only 62) had the jab 2 weeks ago & is still in bed feeling terrible , drained & with no energy. She felt 100% before the jab!

Flu jabs have just come into this area's surgeries. Ds2 had his on Thurs but dd1 can't get an appt until Nov 30th. Ds1 lives in California and says they have none at all out there atm.

SamK, I noticed the govt is advertising heavily this year, saying that you categorically can't get flu from the jag. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?!

I'm in the US, and I'm bummed that I can't get a flu jab this year because of the shortage. (I'm an asthmatic too, so I should be in the at risk group.) Do they have them available in the UK? I'll be in London briefly the weekend before Xmas. Is there somewhee I can go for one?

Juniper: as I understand it, one of the main strains in the vaccine this year is the strain that swept the UK last year (a fuijian flu strain... I forget the full name, will have to ask my epidemiologist friend). So, if you can't get hold of the vaccine, there's a fairly good chance you are protected against (or at least have reduced response to) flu going around this year if their predictions are right anyway.

It's not a 100% guarantee of course, but I would have thought you'd be more protected from the flu this year than someone who hadn't had either vaccine or flu.

Had my jab a couple of weeks ago and have had one for the last 5 years or so and NEVER had any ill effects or flu-like symptoms despite being in an at-risk group.

Had my flu jab (asthmatic) a few weeks back and I've had no side effects whatsoever - not even a sniffle!

The flu vaccine is a "dead" one so impossible to catch flu from it.
