Anyone here had Terry’s nails and it turn out to be a mundane cause?... if you did develop with age, what age were you when they started? Currently trying to calm myself having googled😬🙈

Thought I’d add a pic just in case anyone can offer reassurance.... I have already contacted my gp but I’m not sure how swift their response will be!!

Mine have been all white apart
From a bit at the top all my life and I don’t have any of those diseases. Is it a new thing for you then?

Thank you for responding Tardis! I suppose I’ve never really looked at them that hard...I bit them terribly for years so they always looked hideous and these days they’re usually caked in mud😆!...it’s only because the index finger has developed a patch in the the last couple of days that I really noticed. GP has looked at the photo, laughed and told me I’m being paranoid though...so I’ll take that answer for the time being!! I have however ordered a private blood screen to double check....not something I’d usually do but I’d rather be safe than sorry!!

Did you get an answer Blimeyoreilly2020? Mine look exactly the same as yours, I don't think they used to look like this...?

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 07/04/2021 15:26

Oh only just saw your response @GreyhoundGurl ! My bloods are apparently fine....doesn’t stop me panicking though!! Pretty sure mine didn’t used to be like this either but apparently can happen with age...what decade are you in?..I’m 40s.

@Blimeyoreilly2020 I'm only 33! Actually just had another set of bloods back today and all fine again - apart from deficient in Vit D - did your bloods test this? I can't see any link online been Vit D and these nails though. I've also got red palms which is another sign of severe liver issues. I've had an ultrasound and an MRI now though and all clear so I have to hope they can't have all missed something?! I've also been assured by a doctor that terry's nails when caused by systemic disease is when something is very wrong and this would certainly show in tests. It's so confusing.

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 07/04/2021 18:28

Interestingly the only thing I was also deficient in was vitamin d @GreyhoundGurl - maybe there’s a link there! It seems to be believed that it’s caused by vascular issues so I’ve also wondered if my low blood pressure and Reynauds (where your fingers loose blood flow v quickly in the cold) may also be a contributing factor.... but I’m no doctor and MUST stop googling...I terrify myself ever time!!

Oh that is interesting about vit D @Blimeyoreilly2020! I do so hope that to be the cause. I don't have Raynauds but have noticed recently my whole fingers going white in the cold, so maybe starting with it. Yes, let's stop googling, it really does no good. I hope we both stay well Smile
