hi there! i hope someone can enlighten me.

my DD is 15 weeks old and today has passed green poo. that never happened before. while im planning to call our HV tomorrow, i would like to put my mind at piece tonight.

she is fully BF and is now teething. we've been giving her 3 doses of a herb (the white box one) and calpol once in a while. im considering the possibility of the herb and the medicine be the culprit. but what do you think? and, the most important, is it dangerous green poo?

green poo is usually a sign of a mild tummy upset, but if she has no other symptoms I'd just put it down to the teething (the extra saliva makes their poo more alkaline so makes poo go funny. can also cause nappy rash so a barrier cream poss a good idea).

why are you giving her herbs? at 15 weeks she should be exclusively breastfed shouldn't she?

ah, thank you senora!

ashton & parsons, is an infant powder to sooth teething discomfort, recommended by the HV. i read the box, its a herb

it's probably ok if it's for babies I guess. teething gel is better though I would imagine.

Green poo is often a sign of 'snacking', ie having lots of little feeds, where the baby gets a disproportionate amount of foremilk at the expense of hindmilk.

almost definitely upset tummy due to teething! my dd2 has this at the moment too!

ds used to have green poo from time to time. never worked out why, but it always went away.

ashtons and parsons teething powders are great btw! ds opens his mouth happily for me to pop them in

mine does too bunny! i tasted it, it doesnt taste like anything. i wonder why they like it.

good to know caz, so its not one case alone.

explosive, looking back on my day i think i did change quite often between breasts. when you think you have now mastered BF... i will be more mindfull in the next days and see what happens.
