Nasal Rinsing, good or bad??

Hey guys! So this is a super vile topic, and apologies in advance. Just wondering if anyone has used a medicated nasal rinse before ? I used one for the first time this evening, and all went really well! Until I blew my nose after and one of my nostrils was bleeding ! It wasn't tones ! Just a little bit. I don't normally get nosebleeds so it startled me a little! Is this normal?

I get really bad congestion and catarrh and saw a lot of positive things online about nasal rinsing! But if its going to cause more damage than good I probably won't continue !

You’re only supposed to use sterilised liquid. Otherwise natural bacteria can get into places they’re not supposed to and make you very ill or even kill you. Personally I don’t think it’s a good idea.

The one I bought was a pre mixed medicated one from boots. So I think its sterile, I was just super confused as to why mt nose started bleeding !

Leave well alone...like douching and colonic irrigation, squirting liquids into orifices that are deigned to be self-cleaning is generally a bad idea. Only do it under direct medical advice.

My ENT Consultant swears by it for people who suffer from allergies. She does it daily.

She recommends the Sterimar spray you get in pharmacies. DH used to do it and did find it good but then got lazy.

I get allergic rhinitis and have been advised by my dr to do it twice a day.
I feel slightly less irritated but too soon to know

I was also advised to do it by ENT to help with allergies and post nasal drip. I had a "recipe" for a solution using salt and boiled water (and maybe something else?). I've done it for ages but it did help. It's easier to use Beconase spray!

I have the Sterimar Spray, I think the problem was that I wasn't gentle enough when I did it! Woke up this morning feeling 100% less congested ! Would recommend !

I mean, aside from the nosebleed I must admit, I am less congested this morning ! So it seems to have worked :)

The Neilmed rinse is good too. My son’s ENT surgeon insisted on it and also recommended it to all the nursing team who used it at the first sign of a cold . Being a sporner my son knew how much I loved to see the gunk and would call me in to view anything particularly impressive post-rinse!

DH has to do this after brain tumour, twice every day.

I do it when I had sinusitis or when I get super congested. It's the only thing that gave me any relief. I used steminar.
