Any survivors out there of persistent thread worm?

DS1 had his 5th dose of ovex this year so far on Sunday Angry he caught them at (primary)school before Christmas but we didn’t realise for a couple of weeks so it seems v hard to get rid.

We all took ovex again this weekend. TMI warning... I checked my poo this morning and there were quite a few Shock I had two doses of Ovex in Jan. also feel like I’m getting thrush symptoms from them.

We’re cleaning as much as we can around home schooling etc.

Just feel like we are in the house (me and DH wfh plus homeschool DS1, DS2 at childminder) infested with eggs and never going to break cycle.

Going to call gp tmw to see if they will ok taking ovex in higher dose or closer than two weeks to really break cycle.

Take it at 2 week intervals (don’t forget and take it on the 2 week mark) then repeat every two weeks for 2 more doses.
The whole family needs to do it at the same time. Everyone, absolutely everyone you are in regular contact with.
If you are in a childcare bubble and someone else is looking after your DC in the day, they need to do it too. At the same time.
After that, the baby worms will have been killed off as babies and no more eggs should be there.
1 week after the first dose, hoover all around throughly and wash bedding, pj’s and underwear in particular at a very high temp.

Hope that helps!

@Quit4me thanks for taking time to reply. I’m slightly at wits end. Will try to keep going with it all

@Anothernameanothertime are you treating all of your household members at the same time, both doses?

Anothernameanothertime · 16/02/2021 11:46

@Quit4me the first treatments in Jan we did on normal 2 doses/2 week cycle. DS1 continued to be itchy so he had two more doses then this weekend he was itchy again and so was husband so all 4 of us inc DS2 who is just 2 had another full dose. Got appt booked with doc to talk about dosage/timing

No childcare bubble. DS2 childminder knows we are treating for worms and is keeping an eye out with DS2 we’ve not seen any on him yet and he’s still in nappies so easier to spot and harder to itch.

@Anothernameanothertime hi! How are you doing? How did you get rid of worms at the end?
