Ds has said this for past 3 days, his teacher mentioned to me this morning whilst i was in the nurses office with ds as he had taken a fall in playground and cracked his head on the concrete.

He also seems quite tired generally and wondered if anyones dc have had similar. THe weakness in legs in non specific as he isnt feeling sick ,just weak. His appetite is good and he is hungry frequently.

Either a weird virus and he is a bit under the weather or he is feeling a bit weak as he is so hungary. Is he drinking loads too?

Niecie · 02/11/2007 12:36

hungry

He isnt drinking loads, has a good diet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with fruit snacks between. Prob is a virus, just sounds a bit odd when he says his legs are all weak. poor boy

My DS complained about tiredness and aching limbs for about a month during the summer. He was otherwise healthy and eating VERY well.
I was starting to get a little concerned until I realised that he was just at the beginning of a HUGE growth spurt. He was a size 5 shoe at the start of the summer and is now a size 9.
How old is DS - could he be growing?

bumposaurus · 02/11/2007 12:52

Both of my DS's have gone through phases of complaining of achy legs...I was at a loss as to what it could be and it lasted for a couple of months, and then they both shot upwards in growth spurts. As I recall, they were about 4 at the time. But if you're worried, then I would get the doctor to check him out

My DS2 was the same in the summer Pagwatch - complained of aching legs at weird times, i.e. not when we were out on a walk but when we were just mooching around. He didn't have quite such a dramatic growth spurt but certainly went up a size and half in shoes in about 2 months and all his t-shirts and trousers are now v. short so maybe it is a growth thing.

He is 7 so may well be a growth spurt. That makes alot of sense. Stupid question now, he easts well, but he is complaining of hunger an hour or so after a meal, should i add toast before bedtime?

Awen
if he is active and reasonably healthy then add in something.
Protein is probably best rather than carb.
I gave DS nuts to take to school and he would have a cheese and ham bagel when he got in before supper.
It actually got to the point where i couldn't keep up and a nutritionist recommended a protein shake a very small 'dose' so not muscle building stuff but just a build up dose as if after an illness.
He is now bigger than me but mighty healthy and pains have gone

MamaMaiasaura · 02/11/2007 13:31

That is really helpful, thanks pagwatch. He has been a cheese monster lately too. Ds is going to def be bigger than me. Have posted a pic of him from summer, he isnt a small boy
