Breast Clinic

Hi! A couple of weeks ago I was in the shower and noticed a dark patch on my nipple, it’s about 1cm x 1cm in size and came up out of nowhere. I don’t have any other symptoms with it, no pain, heat, discharge - though I am still feeding my 2.5y old. I saw the GP and he gave me some anti-fungal cream and a lecture on how I should stop breastfeeding my toddler 🙄🥴. I used the cream for about a week and it didn’t do anything. I went back to a different GP and she said whilst it didn’t look sinister, she would refer me to the breast clinic. I’m waiting for my appointment. Does anyone have any experience of similar symptoms?

It is just a small darker patch on the surface of the skin, almost like I grew a new mole/liver spot. The patch is the colour my areoles went in pregnancy, but It’s only one small area, the rest is my normal colouring. I’m not pregnant at the moment.

What can I expect at breast clinic? Will they Mammogram me even though I’m 34?

Thanks for any help!

They won't mammogram you for two reasons. Young peoples breasts are too dense and breastfeeding breasts are even more dense. They may give you an ultrasound. I've been to the breast clinic a few times due to family history and once when I was still breastfeeding. It was always ultrasound they used. Always best to get checked out but it doesn't sound sinister. Best of luck.

They'll ultrasound I think, unless maybe they'll biopsy or something?? I had one of these develop in my late 20s. I went to the doctor's for an unrelated breast issue and my GP (who has an interest in breast health) commented on it but more out of interest than being worried. She was like, "ooh a lovely example of XX (I forget what she called it) but it's nothing to worry about!" I had an ultrasound for the other issue and this pigment "spot" wasn't mentioned at all. I really hope it's nothing to worry about and wish you the best of luck. You've done the right thing getting it checked

I release my post isn't very helpful but just wanted to say "yes, I have something similar"

Thanks for your replies, they are reassuring. Just want my appointment through to get it out of the way now x
