Mammogram - worried

I've jyst had a "routine" mammogram for the first time (45 yrs old, family history of breast cancer), and I accidentally caught a glimpse of the screen on my way out. It looked like there was a white patch (quite long and thin) on the mammogram, and I'm worried that it means I've got cancer. Is it possible/normal to have whate patches?

As far as I can tell I don't have any lumps (although tbh I'm not as vigorous/ firm as I should be when I'm examining my boobs), but I have had some tenderness for the last week (at an unusual time in my cycle).

I don't want to go looking on google, as I know I'll freak myself out!

When I saw my mammogram I thought I should update my will and plan my funeral.

Everything was normal.

Please don't freak out, you really don't know yet

And even if you do have cancer it might be very treatable. Most are.

Hi OP, I was the same as you, caught a glimpse when leaving and saw white marks on both breasts, all was normal, DH always says no point worrying until there is something to worry about, await your results, hope all will be ok. I worried myself sick for the week waiting for.my results

Mammograms look strange! I guess to our untrained eyes we just don’t know what we are looking at!

I had my first mammogram in August last year. I was also recalled - very frightening - but all was well.

So honestly, don’t be worrying, it’s more than likely fine and even if they call you back, it’s still more than likely fine Smile
