Basic issue:

She went in on around 9/10 Sept for surgery to remove gall stones. 18 removed. In pain. Back to theatre. Another op -not sure what for. Back to ward. Still in pain and being sick. Back to theatre (is someone who reacts badly to anaesthetic anyway). Gall bladder removed at some stage. Not feeling great. Collapsed lung due to bad chest infection. Then MRSA. Barrier nursing. MIL feels guilty that she has it and is infectious. Discharged to respite home. Back in hosp after a week as still bein very sick. Docs think may be as stet still in place. Now feeling better but waited all day (with no food) for op but too busy. Just phoned again and consultants too busy as had meetings to discuss everyone which apparently is v important. Am feeling v. fucking pissed off on her behalf. She is too nice to be pissed off but she has missed 7 weeks of her life and at 70 that shoudln't happen.

I appreciate completely that complications occur but this seems bloody ridiculous.

However we are overseas and MIL is too bloody soft to make an issue. I have just spoken to her and said that if she doesn't have stent removed tomorrow we will do something from here but I don't know what.

We can afford to pay for her to go private but not sure how to sort it from here.

She is DH's step mother who is dad married when DH was 23. Is totally mad but in a lovely lovely way - adores our DS who is her only grandchild - she never had DCs herself.

Do you have any relatives or friends back home who could help?

It all sounds terrible, your poor mil.

All relatives are older and of generation that accepts docs as gospel. She has a friend who may be tougher but as only a friend won't have much sway.
