How do you cope waiting for scan/results

I'm waiting for an echo scan after an abnormal ecg. I have to wait 4 weeks. I can't cope and I'm thinking all sorts. I'm a mess l, constantly crying, can't thjnk straight, googling everything.

How does anyone else cope

I’m sorry to hear that you are going through this. I think the waiting is most definitely the worst bit. I can’t really offer any advice as I am the same as you in that I cannot stop thinking about it and assuming the worse. I have learnt not to google these days and that has definitely helped. I ask my husband to instead and he filters out the scary bits.
Getting outside is the only thing that really helps me. Seeing bulbs poking through the soil and the promise of better things ahead.
I hope the next 4 weeks pass quickly and that it is something easily fixable - which it most likely is

@Maidofdishonour thank you.

I think the anxiety is making me so much worse, and I'm imagining symptoms that probably are not even there. I'm going to go for a walk today.

Well I hope the weather is better where you are as it is torrential rain here.
Anxiety causes so many pains, particularly in that area. I have bad posture and often get pains in my left shoulder, arm, neck and chest. I have had heart scans and they were normal although it was very painful having an ultrasound which proved the pain was musculoskeletal

Hi I know a lot about waiting for results 😞 I'm currently awaiting results at the moment again!!! and have had various procedures whilst in hospital before Xmas for a few weeks and had results from many tests looking for scary things!
I spoke to a very lovely and wise elderly lady whilst in hospital who took everything with such calmness and whilst we were chatting socially distanced of course!! From our beds I told her I admired how calm she was and how her calmness soothed me and she said ' why would I waste my time worrying what will be will be I just accept everything with a calm mind and it's got me this far (she was 80 years young!)
Her words in the last couple of months have kept me calm as I await results and a fear I talk myself down and get on with it and think be more like the lovely wise lady I met because it got her far!
HTH in some little way 🙏🏻

@kissmelittleass thank you so much for that, that's really helped Smile it's just certain times my mind starts slipping.

I hope your results are all ok Thanks

Most tests come back / are flagged up sooner if there is anything to worry about x

It's stressful all right! I had a BCC removed from my face in October and waited about 7 weeks to be told that it was infiltrating and they'd not got it all out. I had to go back for round two about 4 weeks ago, and now I'm waiting for results for the second time. It'll prolly be fine, but it's difficult not to feel tense.
