Can dental implants cause receding gums

Just curious, I’ve not had one but I need a dental implant...it’s much too expensive. But now the gums around the surrounding teeth are beginning to recede so I might have to do it. Or have I left it too late?

Ask for a dental implant consultation to discuss.
I recently had an implant and needed a gum tissue graft at the same time, as my gum was receeding in the same area

@IntrovertEm Thank you Smile

I’m curious, was the surgery and implant very expensive? And how painful was the implant and gum graft? I just read somewhere that the implant causes receding gums which made me worried about my already receding gums 😞

Yes it is expensive and quite a long process in all. Mine will probably end up near £2500 . For me it's worth it as I'm quite young and it's a front tooth. The implant surgery itself wasnt painful but it's quite an intense procedure. The gum graft wasnt painful but annoying when it was healing. I had stitches in mouth for a week or so until they were removed.
I am currently in the in between stage while the implant grafts to the bone. So I have a gap for 3 months but they can fill the gap temporarily. I'm getting a denture on monday.
