Virus but not Covid!

Has anyone else been poorly with a virus that isn't Covid ? Of course everyone now assumes that if you are feeling rough with a sore throat and temperature that you must have Covid! My work colleague had high temp, sore throat and headache on Monday and had a negative Covid test, now I feel the same. Is there another virus/bug going round ? Anyone else ?

Yes I did - I felt awful over Christmas, had a Covid test and it was negative. I really went through it - vomiting, shivers, shakes, horrible, horrible aches in my calves and thighs. After about a week I developed a teeny cough that 48 hours later turned into Pneumonia. I couldn’t be admitted to hospital because I was still negative for Covid, and I was at a risk of catching it and making things worse.
So, in answer to your question, other types of virus and flu ARE out there!

Of course, all other illnesses haven't gone away.

I've had a cold for weeks, it's just a cold and I'm sure millions of other people have one as well

Yes, I'm currently kind of sinusy/headachy with a mild sore throat and dry cough. Feeling a bit rough for about a week now. Not unwell, just a bit under.
DH had covid (and it's turning into long covid, I reckon- he's still symptomatic but negative) in December/January (was in ICU). I tested negative then and my second test came back yesterday as negative.
It's funny how we forget that there's still the regular ol' stuff out there. I was sure I had covid. It's quite a relief... like seeing an old friend turn up at your door! Grin Ah norovirus! I'm SO glad it's you!

My friend has had a fever all week, headache, sore throat and aching. Negative test. There are other bugs going round, just like every year.

lollipoprainbow · 05/02/2021 09:36

@Ch3rish I'm not talking about colds !! Obviously they are around all year.

I think you’ll find that scientifically impossible since March. All illness, tiredness and general malaise are Covid. Re-test immediately. 😏

Im feeling crap at the min. Awful headache and sinus pain. Aches, temperature, tight chest. Ive sent my test off but dont think its Covid as Ihave very swollen neck glands( not a Covid symptom says Dr Google) and not had any loss of taste or smell. Will wait and see!

My 3yo had a horrid virus just after Xmas - god knows where she got it from as we'd pulled her out of nursery abs just been at home. She had 40 degree temps, shivers, one episode of vomiting, fatigue etc. She was negative for Covid (and not a false negative as nobody in the house got ill at all).
