REALLY worried - Strange form of 'the runs'

Basically I have been suffering from a 'dodgy belly' for around 4 days...no sickness or diareah...just pains. Today however I had a small ammount of diareah this morning. I didn't think much of it but afterwards, about an hour later a load of 'discharge' came away from my 'rear', it was like water and I had no control over it but it wasn't diarhea, it was clear.

It's just happened again and this time it had traces of blood in in.

I am no longer in pain as such apart from the odd twinge but I feel all hot and clammy and am obviously worried about 'water' coming from 'there' especially containing blood.

Any idea what could be wrong?

food poisoning?

MrsBadger · 31/10/2007 17:58

could still be food poisoning and the watery stuff could still be poo.
the fever and abdo pain make me say get to the GP.

LittleGoldfish · 31/10/2007 18:03

I have had this before and have IBS. I sometimes get the mucus and have on the odd occasion had traces of blood in it. i have had all the tests, i.e. colonoscopy and endoscopy and all they said was all was clear and I have IBS.

Get to you GP and I am sure they will refer you to a Specialist for a proper diagnosis.

Clear water coming out isn't a great sign, but it's just diarrhea, just particularly bad diarrhea.

The traces of blood - was it fresh blood? Or old?

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 31/10/2007 18:21

I think the mucous means that things are "shooting through" rather alarmingly fast which can happen for a variety of "non serious" reasons. I know you are probably panicking about bowel cancer but your symptoms very probably relate to something far less serious and much very temporary.

Go to the GP and explain it all to him and be reassured.

MrsSnape · 31/10/2007 19:01

I'm not really sure, it wasn't red blood, just slightly pink. I have no stomach pain now, just an urge to go to toilet but when I do all that comes out is 'browinsh' water. I do keep going hot and cold though.

I've had very similar thing to you, MrsS, no idea what it was but it's stopped. Could the blood be from a slight anal fissure? they are quite common i think, especially if you've been going a fair bit and therefore wiping more than usual?

Hope it clears up soon!

NotQuiteCockney · 31/10/2007 19:21

The blood sounds like a fissure. Going hot and cold may mean you're feverish, can you check?

It may just be a nasty tummy bug, but if it keeps up for more than 24 hours, I'd be inclined to see a medic.

NotQuiteCockney · 31/10/2007 19:21

Oh, and please drink lots of water.

bran · 31/10/2007 19:27

Have you recently had a virus, flu or a cold or something like that? I sometimes have a sort of post-viral digestive shutdown, usually 4 or 5 days after I've started to recover from the virus. Basically everything goes straight through my gut in a few hours. So a glass of orange juice in the morning results in orange juice in the loo. (Sorry for TMI)

I don't have blood mixed in, but if it's only a small amount of blood I think it's not too worrying, although perhaps a visit to the gp would be a good idea.

I drink plenty of water and don't eat for a day or so, when I do start to eat I usually have bland things like white break or Jacobs crackers.

I hope you feel better soon.
