Contact Lense wearers? Torric lenses

Hi. I have just been for a free trial for contact lenses and I am confused about something. The eye examiner said I can't have daily disposable lenses because Ihave got an unusual prescription - I guess they don't make them up but I can have monthly lenses which cost £15.

I wear glasses most of the time but wanted to wear lenses for social occasions - so I intend wearing my glasses more than my contacts. So would this mean I still have to pay £15 a month for new lenses even though I won't be wearing them every day? I am assuming they would be ok hygienically if I am not wearing them all the time to use longer than a month?

I think £15 a month isn't too expensive but I have a lot of outgoing at the moment. What is the cheapest way of doing this?

So with the monthly supply do I get a pair every day for 1 month? I know with the dailies you wear once then dispose but how does the monthly work?

Just as info, they kept trying to fob me off saying I had a difficult prescription for dailies, I perservered when I sadi but I wear them maybe once or twice a month and so paying by Direct Debit was not econmical. Last year I paid £80 for a batch of dailes and stil have not got half way trhough them. The ones I think you have are monthly so you wear, clean and wear again.

I think you pay £15 a month and get 30 pairs every other month. you are allowed to put the account on hold whenever you like for maximum of 6 months at a time. So they do work out more expensive than if you wore them every day.

If I have to pay £15 every month which it sounds like I do then I am not going to bother.

I have just been looking on the net and lenses are far cheaper. Does anyone buy theirs from the internet? I will have to ask my opticians for all the measurements as Ihaven't a clue.

I don't get ours from the internet. But we used to get them from sainsburys / asda. Now my very lovely mother gets them for us from spain. Saves us a fortune!

Give the online company a go, just ask for your contact lens prescription from your optition!

Would the fact that I have a rather unusual prescription make it difficult to get them at Asda/tesco etc? Mr prescription is R eye SPH +1.50 CYL -1.75 AXIS 14.0
L eye is SPH +2.50 CYL -2.75 AXIS 5.0

Don't think so.

Sainsburys are link with dolach and attirsons (sp) so I can't see why it would be a problem.
