painful episiotomy scar 3.5 months on!

Jsut when i thought all my bits were getting back to normal, my episiotomy scar has become very painful and even bleeds sometimes. This coincides with my period (which i am devastated to find has returned even though i am still breastfeeding!)Scar seems normal when i'm not on, but has anyone else experienced this? have i not healed properly?

Ouch for you emz31. I wonder whether it is something hormonal, seeing as it coincides with your period. Actually, I'm puzzled - how can you tell that it's bleeding then? Anyway, I think you should take yourself off to the doctor. I've been through having a tear scar that didn't heal, and it's really not nice. In the meantime, how about a bit of perineal massage with Evening Primrose Oil? EPO promotes healing and softens scars.

thanks for the tip,it starts to bleed just before i come on when the pain starts, only a tiny bit, but it's on the loo roll so i know it's from there. oh well, looks like i may have to face getting my bits out at the docs again, in the meantime i'll try the EPO.
