Has amitriptyline or propranolol made you gain weight

Just that really. I’ve been taking 25mg of amitriptyline a night for migraine prevention and have recently had my dose raised to 50mg per night. I also take 80mg of propranolol each day for the same thing. I’ve gained a couple of stone, which is also partly down to lockdown, menopause and too much unhealthy food. I just wondered whether anyone had found that they had gained weight on either of these medications.

I used to take propranolol and it didn't so much make me put weight on, but stopped me losing it. I was in a pattern of putting 1/2 stone on each school holiday then losing it over the next six weeks so my weight was stable. When I went on propranolol I put the weight on each holiday just the same but then couldn't shift it. Didn't help my migraines either!

Yes. I also take amitriptyline for migraine prophylaxis and when I started I found it drove my appetite (craved carbs) and I gained weight. I’m also peri menopausal I think, which I’m sure hasn’t helped.
I’ve found going on a very low carb/keto style diet has helped enormously, and also further reduced my migraines.
