NHS Health Check

Has anyone else had their GP invite them for the free NHS check over the telephone?

I have but thought it funny to conduct the check over the telephone because there are usually tests involved (blood pressure/bloods, etc)!

Nope. Have you recently turned 40?

ofwarren · 21/01/2021 19:00

I've had one but not over the phone.
There are quite a lot of questions on family medical history but there are medical tests too like you say. Surely you will have to go in for those?

I'm 43 this year, not heard a peep from my doctor's about this. Well woman check I think it's called.

I’ve heard they get paid for carrying them out and was wondering if this is why! My GP practice isn’t currently inviting people face to face for obvious reasons but conducting an assessment over the telephone and scoring appropriately.

So, apparently my risk of diabetes is 2%...how can you possibly assess that over the phone!

@Fluffycloudland77 They invite you from the age of 40 if you have no underlying health conditions.

@ofwarren exactly! So I’ve missed all the tests they would run which seems the most crucial part!

@swapsicles this is the standard free check offered over 40. Not sure what the well woman one is but sounds good!

It does give them a baseline set of results in normal times though.

What do you mean @Fluffycloudland77
