Internal hernia?

It might not be a hernia, that’s just what it feels like.

Every once in a while, when I put a certain kind of pressure on my abdomen (it could be as simple as bending over, or sitting with my legs up and shifting myself slightly, or even sneezing if my body isn’t completely straight), I get an incredibly odd sensation in the area from my navel to four or five inches to the upper left of it. It feels for all the world like my intestines are shifting around and want to bulge out. It’s not painful, just alarming, and there’s no bulge in my belly.

It lasts for maybe 10-15 seconds then settles down, though it might continue to feel “off” and slightly sore for a few days. This has been happening for the last two years or so.

I saw my GP and got an ultrasound, but no hernia was found. I should note that I do have something called intestinal malrotation, but that wasn’t spotted until well into adulthood and I was informed that as I’d gotten this far, it was unlikely to cause me grief. I also saw a consultant, and he more or less scratched his head.

I’m just posting to see if anyone has experienced something similar.
