My FILs has had this weird wound on his ear for months. He finally called the doc who's asked for a pic today. He now has an apt to see doc on Friday.

Any ideas what it could be? Now the docs agreed to see him my MIL is freaking out and thinking the worst!

That doesn't look good. Has it looked like that the whole time he's had it?

I hope it won't be the worst.

SoDiorDarling · 20/01/2021 14:28

Yes apparently it's been the same for over 4 months Confused

And nothing triggered it? No injury that he can remember?

Looks like there's a chunk missing? Has he been in a scrap?!

Purplethrow · 20/01/2021 14:32

No one can really diagnose from a picture but , and this is just my opinion, it does resemble a ‘nasty’ to me .
It’s a common place for skin cancer especially in older people as they didn’t have sun cream years ago.
My dad had it on the back of his head and he thought it was just a few blisters. He had it removed and has been fine ever since.

It’s good that your dad is going to the doctor though and I hope it’s sorted soon. X

I said that, he's not been fighting has he?! Grin

I too, probably expect it to be cancerous to be honest. Guess we will find out!

Hopefully it can be removed and nothing more needed

Do let us know how it goes

RinkyD · 20/01/2021 18:29

It looks like possible cancer can’t the position that it is in would have had a lot of sun damage.

Vigorothello · 20/01/2021 18:32

That looks a bit worrying. Or, he’s been fighting. Or he’s been captured and neutered and then released to the wild again...

FIL has a rogue ulcer...a type of beneign cancer so he's having biopsy now. He's apparently in great spirits considering, I think he thinks it's a day out!

Ah how long for biopsy results to come back?

More exciting than most days at the moment I suppose! Glad he's in good spirits

My grandfather had benign skin cancer on his ear which was successfully removed, hopefully something similar.

Torvean32 · 22/01/2021 19:49

Doesnt necessarily have to be a nasty.

Does he have any other illnesses?

Ive seen a bedsore on a ear that looked like that.

I hope you find out what it is , so you can deal with the result.
