Dd started her 20mg pill on sunday, shes on 20mg for the first month then 40mg for another 5 months ( shes 5'2" and weighs 6stones)

On Monday night she mentioned that her knees are feeling a little stiff already! We joked about it and said its probably just psychological as its only been 1 day! But they were still stiff yesterday and this morning.

If anyone has taken accutane what was your dosage and weight? When did you start noticing side effects? I know its only been a few days so i shouldnt panic.

I was 8st ish on 40mg, side effects started straightaway.

It’s strong stuff but it works really well. Some side effects went up and down throughout like my eyes were so dry, then ok, then really not then fine. I had one night back pain that was quite bad but only once.

Mostly I was ok, I worked, ran the house etc. You can request 30mg if you think 40 will be too much but they know what there doing generally with this drug & it can best-to get it over with. I was on it 4 months.

You need to stay hydrated and eat well.

Thanks for replying @fluffycloudland77!

Im a bit worried because the derm didnt offer much advice and didnt even have scales , luckily i got DD to weigh herself a few days before her appointment. When asked if he could recommend anything for side effects he said no and to just stop taking pills if side effects are bad lol.

Today shes complaining about her ribs hurting but her knees are fine now.

Seems like Dd is on a higher dose in total than you were. I'll speak to him about her dosage when he calls for her next appointment. 😊

It’s best not to symptom spot, positive mental attitude can get you through a lot.

He doesn’t sound a very empathic Dr though, you usually see the nurse for repeat prescriptions & the consultant at the end.
