I've taken Agnus Castus for PMT before & it did improve things, a magnesium supplement is supposed to be helpful too.

Erm......not sure but I've heard that lots of pulses and a low GI diet is good in the week leading up to your peiod.

These mood swings are horrible! I have been taking evening primrose/starflower/fish oils for years and when I stop see the difference.

supplement wise, I think nailpolish has about the right combination. My ob-gyn recommends the same.
omegas taken in the long run now largely recognised as helpfull mood stabilizers for serious mood disorders.
There is a supplement called Magne-B6 in pharmacies. It's very good to relax nerves. I don't exactly know why calcium though?

Also remember to limit sugar/ avoid blood sugar swings.

chocolate (70% cocoa)/nuts and mainly almonds(unsalted)/seeds/soy products/whole grains and pulses are all good foods for PMS. Complex carbs help stabilise blood sugars.

If you can, get the hell out of the house for some Me time or lock yourself in the bathroom with that chocolate bar

I take fish oil, evening primrose oil, magnesium, B vitamins, all of which you have already heard about, but I also take Chaste Tree which I think is also fab - this is all a good concoction for TTC appartently - I was on it 2mths when I fell, having been trying for the previous 12.

bootsmonkey · 29/10/2007 09:45

Mirena also sent me loopy. I find agnus castus (Chaste Tree) has REALLY helped smooth out my moods and I take this in conjunction with Magnesium OK tablets which also have all the B vitamins in them... The Agnus Castus is a tincture from Holland & Barrett - tastes foul, but is better than tablets IMO. Nuts/chocolate also very good. Not a big chocolate fan myself, but I do find I crave brazil nuts around this time...

HTH!

Agnus Castus did wonders for me! In fact not single hissy fit so far(!!) and been taking it for 3 months now. Have found an organic version of Chaste Tree tincture from Fushi and the tincture acts much faster. DH has alos commented where the moods have gone! Have to say it does taste nasty but I mix it in with some juice. Since then no cravings and in fact I may even go as far to say the bloating is better. And Brazil nuts have magnesium I believe!
