Sorry this is a long post but please help!!!!! I'm a 36 yr old mother of 2 young children.I have been on and off the microgynon pill for years. I'm most recently off it about 7 months. I noticed randomn spotting, a one off, one month over 2 years ago. I freaked out, assumed I had cervical cancer and went to gp. He done a smear test, infection swaps and all were normal. He did however diagnose a cervical errosion. I never really got random spotting again just heavy mucus but nothing smelly or abnormal (sorry tmi). I did get very light spotting one month last year which the gp said was down to going on and off the pill. He put me back on the pill and I have had no random bleeding since. I have now come off the pill about 7 months ago as I'm now 36 and gp says the pilll carrys too many risks now at my age . What I have noticed is that for the last 2 years when I'm off the pill I get brown discharge/ red spots when I wipe, minimal but definitely there about 3-7 days before every period. Doctor says this is fine as it is normal for my cycle now and anything sinister would affect my whole cycle not just the week before my period..i have health anxiety and tend to analyse everything too much and I'm freaked out about this. Is this something anyone else has experienced? Sorry for the rant.
