Can someone help - I have lump/spot on face which I have had for months?

I don't know if it is a spot or a lump. It looks like a spot but feels more like a lump and is a little bit sore to touch and doesn't have like a white- head to it which makes me think its not a spot.

Basically, I had this spot/lump about 2 months ago and it did start to go smaller and I though great its going but since Friday it has gotten bigger.

Anyone know what it could be? My DH told me it is really unsightly & that it makes me look strange made me feel great - NOT.

If you had it a while you should get it checked out. My mum had one for ages and it just turned out to be a boil. But I did work with a woman who had a spot on her nose that never went, she ignored it for about two yrs because she felt stupid going to the doc for just a spot, finally she went and it tuned out to be skin cancer. Tbh the are numerous of small things it could be and the chances of it being anything sinister is remote so I dont want to panic you. But there is no harm to get it checked out if it not going away

OMG - is the woman ok?

yes she was fine, sorry should of added that. Sorry dont want to panic you, I just know so many people who would say its just a spot why bother the doc, and majorty of cases it nothing to worry about.

My dd has a similar spot on her cheek. She is 4 now and has had it for about 3 yrs. The dr said it was a cyst and they couldn't do anything about it.

Barbie girl, it could be a blind spot, my DP gets lots of those and they last for ages. He is a spotty git though Otherwise i would think a cyst or boil. The fact that it is sore suggests it is unlikely to be anything sinister

Dh had a sebaceous cyst over his eyebrow, which sounds like this - he had it removed & it hasn't left a scar - it wasn't a different colour from the rest of his skin & was only sore if he rubbed it.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Like I mentioned, it looks like a spot but feels really lumpy. I had it for weeks then it went smaller now its back huge and lumpy as ever.

I might make an appt with the GP tomorrow but I really do feel stupid going just for a spot (ok - I know it could be something else) do you think the GP will think I am a weird going for this reason? I don't want to feel like I am wasting their time.

why would the doctor think you are weird? Its obviously bothering you, and your dp said it doesnt look great, go, they might be able to whip it off, or advise you that it will go of its own accord.
