Itchy sore armpits

kateshair · 14/01/2021 22:08

I’ve had itchy sore armpits now for about three weeks.
Haven’t been using an old razor, no new detergent or deodorant. Also noticing small skin tag type things.
Any one any advice ?

Watching as i keep having the same problem, I got cream from gp which just burned the skin and caused sores.
I’ve ended up using talc as it’s all I can bare to apply

Bear even Blush

ExhaustedGrinch · 14/01/2021 22:17

My first thought was a fungal infection but not sure about the skin tag type things.

Randomrebel · 14/01/2021 22:35

Same here. Occasionally get ingrown hairs but a few skin tags, sore spots under arms.

Are you rinsing the soap off thoroughly after washing? I had sore armpits and red patches and I think this was the cause. I just used some cream for dry, sensitive skin I think which cured it plus rinsing well.

I would use some athletes foot cream if its wet, sudocrem if its dry. If neither works after a few days see your GP.

I get this occasionally, I just don't use any deodorant/antiperperant until it goes.

You don’t wash with a bath puff thingy do you? I got an infection from one of those! Had to get antibiotics which cleared it up and no shaving for a while til it healed Confused

Try hibiscrub (surgical scrub). Sorted mine out

SpiderinaWingMirror · 14/01/2021 23:12

Athletes foot powder rather than cream is worth a go.

PreyingMantlepiece · 14/01/2021 23:15

I'd cut out the shaving for a while. Stick to plain soaps and a mild deodorant, make sure pits are thoroughly dry (I air myself between towelling off and getting dressed) and avoid any perfumes for a bit.

Then if you speak to a GP, you'll already have an idea if those suggestions make a difference or not.

Palavah · 14/01/2021 23:18

Stop shaving for a while as it will irritate the skin. Can you get away with not using deodorant for a while? At least wash your armpits at the end of the day and apply a cream for dry sensitive skin like aveeno or epaderm, or sudocrem. Don't scratch!

How does your bra fit? I find some rub slightly in that area and make me feel sore/itchy.

Has your weight changed recently? Or have you bought new underwear? (Obvs don't answer on here)
